  1. To install Windows Commander, just unzip all files into one temporary 
  2. directory and run install. Then you can delete the temporary dir with all
  3. its files.

  5. What is Windows Commander?
  6.  
  7. Windows Commander is a file manager for Windows  similar to the Windows file
  8. manager WINFILE.EXE. But Windows Commander is an implementation of Norton
  9. Commander  in the Windows environment.

  11. Here some Features of Windows Commander:

  13. - Keyboard layout similar to the DOS original.
  14. - Supports Drag & Drop with the mouse, even to the print manager.
  15. - Extended copying, moving, renaming and deleting of entire trees 
  16.   (directories with their subdirectories).
  17. - Archives are handled like subdirectories. You can easily copy files
  18.   from and to archives, the appropriate packer is automatically called.
  19.   Pkzip, arj and lha are supported.
  20. - Start-menu (user-defined menu) to place your favourite DOS and Windows 
  21.   apps in. As an option, the actual directory and/or the file under the
  22.   cursor can be handed over to the application.
  23. - Command line for the simple starting of programs with parameters, simply
  24.   by typing the program name or by pressing CTRL+ENTER or CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER.
  25. - Enhanced search function with full text search in any files on multiple drives
  26. - Built in file viewer (F3) to view files of ANY SIZE in hex, binary or text
  27.   format, using either the ASCII- (DOS) or the ANSI- (Windows) character set.
  28. - NEW: Internal Unzip by Info-Zip, which allows unzipping without calling an
  29.   external program! The source code in Turbo-Pascal is free and can be obtained
  30.   directly from me.

  32. Removing Windows Commander: If you remove the program, also delete the file
  33. wincmd.ini in your Windows directory!

  35. Installation BY HAND: Just copy the files to a directory on your hard disk.
  36. Rename the file install.bin to install.zip and unzip it with pkunzip. Then
  37. move all files with the extension .pif into your Windows directory. Place
  38. the file ctl3d.dll in your windows\system directory.
